This prayer card was passed down to me by my dad during a time in my life when I was struggling with anxiety and loneliness.
This prayer card was given to my dad by an older physician in the hallway of a hospital when he was in his early 30s. He had finished medical school and was working to obtain his board certification. He was feeling nervous about his exams and she noticed that he was feeling down. The woman physician opened her wallet and handed him this prayer novena. She told him not to worry, to pray, and things would work out.
To this day when you ask my dad about this prayer card his eyes fill will tears because of the genuine compassion this colleague had shown to him. She believed in the power of prayer.
She wanted him to change his perspective and to remind him that God was with him in difficult times. This prayer helped my dad find peace and encouragement.
My dad saved this card for years. I only learned of it and the story when he gave it to me following law school. I was studying obsessively for the Florida Bar exam. I am a terrible test taker and have always experienced anxiety and stress leading up to exams. I was so stressed out that I was making myself sick physically and emotionally. I had poured my heart into studying and when I didn’t pass the multistate exam portion, I felt directionless with my life.
I prayed this Novena and the pieces started to fall into place. My dad believes it was “divine intervention” for him and the same for me.
Now looking back, this prayer card helped open my heart to the presence of Jesus in my life. It allowed me to be vulnerable in asking for help and guidance.
It allowed me to successfully pass the Florida Bar exam.
God was there holding my hand while I matured from a student to an adult.
He held my hand while I struggled with getting pregnant the first time.
He holds my hand daily while I struggle to be a working mom and raising 3 boys close in age.
He holds my hand while I navigate really tough decisions of raising a child that is outside the box. One who needs medication, therapy, and constant encouragement.
He holds my hand when I see others cast judgment on my child and our family. But even more impactful is that he holds my hand when I see the beauty in my kid’s eyes.
While the three boys were racing in the yard, Davis had intentionally let his little brother win.
He looked at me and said, “Isn’t doing a good deed or being kind to someone the best reward humans can receive? It’s WAY better than chocolate or a medal!”
Just those simple thoughts my 6-year-old child said was God’s way of reminding me he was holding my hand.
This novena helped me see that Jesus is there for the good and the bad. He has guided and shaped me and my values of raising the boys, being a loving and supportive wife, reminding me to be a good friend, to be a good daughter, a good sister, and most of all a good woman. I know he is there because I have asked him to be.
When you are struggling with a decision, or maybe you feel directionless and need to feel or see Jesus in your life- I encourage you to say this Novena. Be bold and ask for help from Jesus.
In the Infant Jesus novena, we ask the Divine Infant Jesus for whatever we need and place our cares in His little hands, knowing that He can do more than we can even desire or understand (cf. Ephesians 3:20).
TO THE INFANT JESUS OF PRAGUE
O Divine Child of Prague and still the great omni-potent God, I implore through Thy Most Holy Mother’s most powerful intercession and through the boundless mercy of Thy omnipotence as God, for a favorable answer to the intention I so earnestly as for in this Novena.
O Divine Child of Prague hear my prayer and my petition. (Repeat this line 3 times)
The Infant of Prague novena should be said at the same time every hour for nine consecutive hours- Just one day.
O Jesus, Who hast said, “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you,” through the intercession of Mary, Thy Most Holy Mother, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted.
(Name It)
O Jesus, Who hast said, “All that you ask of the Father in My Name He will grant you,” through the intercession of Mary, Thy Most Holy Mother, I humbly and urgently ask Thy Father in Thy Name that my prayer be granted.
(Name it)
O Jesus, Who hast said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall not pass,” through the intercession of Mary, Thy Most Holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted.
